Water travels horizontally inside the roof substrate, meaning the wet spot on your ceiling is rarely directly below the actual breach — and visible signs can take days or weeks to appear.
Once water enters through a compromised seal or micro-tear, it saturates the ceiling liner and begins separating the roof decking from the interior substrate. That process is called delamination, and once it starts, it accelerates. The air pocket that forms allows water to pool, and in East Texas heat cycles that pocket expands and contracts, pulling more material apart with each cycle.
